Linde Scherer

Linde Scherer was born 1939 in Bielefeld, Germany. After many troubled years, Linde Scherer has settled down in Loerrach, Germany.

With her husband and her three children she has found her home in a pictureque countryside in the very south-west of Germany. Linde now has seven grandchilds, the youngest was born in 2006. Her grandchildren have a great influence in Linde´s work. That is one reason why her scultping looks that real and has a very life-like expression.

A long time before her education as a scupltress, she worked with many different materials. No matter if it was soapstone, granite, clay or wood, Linde created figures, sculptures or non-figurative art.

But she always felt the need to create dolls. After making them out of fabric or wood, Linde discovered porcelain for making dolls. She never went to classes or experienced any help from outside. She had learned the complete process of doll and moldmaking by her own.

Making dolls in porcelain was a very expensive passion. To continue her work, Linde started to trade her sculpts against doll making materials. One day we discovered one of her sculpts in doll shop. We were fascinated by „Christian-Philipp“. Not a long time from this, Linde´s first doll was available as a mold. And it was not the last one. Not all of her work was made available as a mold to the public. Some limited edition dolls have their place in museums now.

Although there are different of her scuplts available in vinyl now and Linde works with that material too, she states that porcelain is still her favourite material to work with.

We want to thank Linde Scherer for her excellent and indefatigable work and for making countless people happy with one of her „children“. We hope that we can raise a smile with a new „Scherer-child“ soon.
