DOLL RESTORATION SEMINAR PROGRAM

The D.A.G. School of Dollmaking (DAGSD) has expanded its seminar program to offer a complete curriculum on all phases of doll restoration. Under this program you will learn how to make museum quality repairs on composition and porcelain dolls and other porcelain collectibles. If you are interested in starting a business in doll restoration you will also learn how to market your skills and find customers.

The Doll Restoration Program will include both entry level (Level I) and advanced specialty seminars. Upon completion of the structured program you will become certified in doll restoration.

The three Level I seminars are:

! Composition Restoration

! Porcelain Restoration

! Advanced Porcelain Restoration

Advanced seminars will include specialized courses on such topics as Repair of Figurines; Repair of China and Parian Dolls; Leather Body Repair, Cleaning and Restoration; Wig Repair and Cleaning; and Repair and Construction of Moveable Eyes (Sleep, Flirt and Lever).

Joyce Murch, who has returned as a D.A.G. Instructor after five years as Editor of
Doll Crafter magazine, will be the Coordinator and exclusive Instructor for the Doll Restoration. Joyce has over 30 years experience and expertise both as a dollmaker and a teacher of all aspects of dollmaking, including doll restoration.

Joyce has developed repair techniques that do not require the use of toxic materials and solvents. Most doll restoration experts still use materials that emit toxic fumes, with the result that doll restoration classes can be held only in locations with specially ventilated work areas. Because of the non-toxic materials Joyce uses in her teaching she will be able to conduct doll restoration seminars throughout the United States and other countries. Students and seminar hosts will be able to purchase the doll restoration specialty products through Seeley's.

Joyce's doll repair techniques produce a museum quality restoration. This means that the repairs are fully reversible and that any part of the original that is still in good condition is preserved. You will learn techniques to "antique" the newly restored portion so that it matches the parts that are original.
